Shakespeare- Who is he?

William Skakespeare was a writer, poet and actor born in Stratford-upon-Avonon 23rd April 1564. For centuries he's had many people gripped by his theatre productions in the Globe Theatre. Even though he wrote plays in the 15-16 century he is still known in the 21st Century and highly thought of.
Shakespeare invented many phrases and sayings we use today "I'm in a pickle". is just one of those phrases. He wrote 38 plays, 154 sonnets and 2 long narrative poems . Most of his plays have been changed into modern day english and even films such as Romeo and Juliet.
At the age of 18 he married his first wife Anne Hathaway. With Anne he had 3 children: Susanna and twins Hamnet and Judith.
Between 1585 and 1592 he began a successful career in London as an actor and writer as part of a playing company called "Lord Chamberlains Men".
Shakespeare produced most of his well known work between 1589 and 1613. His early plays were comedies and histories, by the end of the 16th century he wrote tragedies until about 1608 including Othello, Macbeth, King Lear and Hamlet. In his later days he wrote "tragicomedies" (Romances) but sadly he died a couple years later in 1616 at the age of 52.

This is the Globe theatre where most of his plays took part. It attracted many tourists back then and still does know. Many would come in to witness his plays.
